Textile design that breaks through the concept of Nishijin Brocade textiles.

Nishijin Okamoto has been weaving Nishijin Silk Brocade (KINRAN), a traditional craft, for more than 100 years since its establishment in 1909.

Nishijin Silk Brocade (KINRAN) is a fabric used to solemnise shrines and temples, and is mainly used for special occasions such as Buddhist memorial services, and is woven using a variety of rare materials such as real gold leaf.

In 2010, we started to develop new sales channels for BtoB and general customers such as apparel and interior designers, in addition to existing shrines and temples.

It was a shame that our silk fabrics could only be seen in the limited space and period of time of temples, and we were determined to show them to many people.

For this reason, we have been presenting “designs that our textile designers find ‘interesting'”, which until now could not be woven for shrines and temples.

Please have a look at some of them.
