We are pleased to share some wonderful news with you all. We received an invitation from TCD, the company that provides the theme used on the website of Okamoto Nishijin, Okamoto Textile Co., Ltd., which weaves Nishijin brocade, to submit our website for the ‘TCD AWARD 2024‘. We gratefully accepted the invitation and are honoured to announce that we have received the Special Jury Award.

We would like to express our heartfelt gratitude to everyone who has been involved in this achievement.

Website Renewal and SEO Results

In the spring of 2024, we completely revamped our website. With a new design and content structure, we aimed to make it easier to understand and deliver the charm of Kyoto, Nishijin, and Nishijin-ori. Along with the renewal, we have been continuously updating blog articles and revising old ones, and the results are gradually becoming evident.

SEO Results

Especially as a result of continuously revising old blog articles little by little every day, we have managed to rank 9th for the keyword “Nishijin-ori” on Google search. This has finally allowed us to appear on the first page, which we are very pleased about. We owe this achievement entirely to all of you.

Background

It has been about 12 years since we launched our website. Without outsourcing to others, we have increased our articles through our own efforts. We started with posts on Ameblo blogs and Mixi, and since around 2014, we have been operating our website using WordPress. Reflecting on the early days when we didn’t even know what SEO was, it is quite moving.

This recent renewal was made possible by being selected for the “Kyoto City Small Business Digitalization Promotion Project for FY 2023” under the Kyoto City Small Business Digitalization and DX Promotion Project. We would like to thank the coordinators at ITC Kyoto, the team at Sun-At-Mark Co., Ltd., who supported us in creating the site, and writer Chinyo Morimoto for assisting with copywriting.

Future Outlook

Our next goal is to aim for even higher rankings. We will continue to provide valuable information and strive to improve the site.

As a small traditional craft company, there are often challenges in venturing into the internet space, but we hope to convey that even a small-scale business like ours can build something substantial through steady efforts. If people can see that even a small company like ours can handle the internet, it would be encouraging.

With this award as a milestone, we will continue our efforts to promote the charm of Kyoto, Nishijin, and Nishijin-ori. We sincerely appreciate your support.
