At the Nishijin Textile Convention 2023, commemorating the 50th anniversary of the Nishijin Textile Industrial Association, “Nishijin kinran brocade with HIKIBAKU pearl powder and silver foil” was awarded the Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology Prize.

Our company is quietly buzzing with happy news as we announce that our craftsmen will be awarded The Order of the Sacred Treasure, Silver Rays, in the fall of 2023.

Okamoto Orimono Co., Ltd. will continue to weave better Nishijin brocade, and we will do our best in our sales activities, which we are not good at, in order to weave Nishijin brocade that we would like to leave to future generations.

Hikibaku is a short, flat thread of thinly cut Japanese paper with two sides, and the process of cutting it is one of the traditional craft skills.

We can weave Hikibaku on both hand looms and power shuttle looms.

We cherish the techniques handed down from our ancestors and will continue to protect Nishijin brocade.
