Nishijin kinran brocade “Hikaruyama” at Kaigando Gallery, Imperial Hotel, Tokyo

Nishijin kinran brocade “Hikaruyama(Energy from Mountain)” by the TANSAN DESIGN STUDIO and Nishijin Okamoto has been launched by textile manufacturer Fujie Textile as an art piece to decorate rooms, and will now be exhibited at the Kaigado Gallery in the historic Imperial Hotel arcade.

On September 1, the second main building of the Imperial Hotel, known as the “Wright Building,” where Frank Lloyd Wright built the first hotel in Japan, celebrated the 100th anniversary of its opening.
The building has survived many disasters, including the Great Kanto Earthquake that hit Tokyo on September 1, 1923, just as it was about to open for business.
The exhibition and sale will be held in this historic location for a limited time only.
