In 2001, Kyoto City designated the first day of spring as “Traditional Industries Day” in order to encourage people to experience and become familiar with Kyoto’s traditional industries in a wide range of fields.

The “Takumi Expo,” which was established to allow visitors to experience the beauty and craftsmanship of various traditional crafts, will be held in cooperation with traditional industry associations, and will feature exhibitions and sales that bring together the techniques of Kyoto’s traditional industries.

Visitors can encounter the traditional techniques and craftsmanship that shine through in traditional works as well as those that suit modern lifestyles, and the thoughts of the makers that reside in their creations.

In this spring season, there are many events related to traditional crafts in various places in Kyoto.
